This is what they tell us is going on this week:
Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, his or her veins and organs are clearly visible through his or her still-thin skin, and his or her body is starting to catch up with his or her head — which makes up just a third of the body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.
How your life's changing: This is the last week of your first trimester, and the risk of miscarriage is now much lower than earlier in pregnancy. Next week marks the beginning of the second trimester, a time of relative comfort for many women who see early pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness and fatigue subside.
As for us:
Doing well. We got to spend time with some good friends this past weekend: Steve & Agya came over for brunch on Sunday and Allen & Liz had us over for a delicious meal and a little blog-bashing on Saturday night. Allen is not a fan of blogs . . . although, he says our blog is not so bad. I also got the opportunity to see some of Ruby Denson's stuff -- including the most delightful and fantastic knitted baby booties ever in existence! I can't wait to see them on Ruby's tiny feet.
Thanks must go out to Mom (who bought BB even more adorable outfits), Jenny (who took me out to lunch last week to celebrate BB and bought BB some cute outfits and a fantastic hat), the Saunders family for our sweet card (hope to see you soon), Cristina for the outstanding book recommendations (and advice and support generally), and Emily who surprised us with these:

Yes. Baby leg warmers. Cousin Hardin has some. And, she looks so snazzy in them! See... those are leg warmers, not tights!
So, I thought BB needed some as well. Em came through and got him, or her, a pair!

The BB library is growing.
Hopefully, I am not forgetting anyone. The outpouring of support for Bradford and I during this time has been great and we are so very thankful. BB is loved already (and has quite the wardrobe).
As for me:
Doing okay. This past week was difficult. I came down with a head cold, which really made me out of sorts for a while. Also, I have become very tired again. Weird.
I am also planning a shower for Agya Pudner, which is keeping me busy. It is fun! I can't wait to have a shower or two of my own.
As for Bradford:
He is good. He is running again, which makes him happy. Work is good. Oh yeah, and he is growing his own alfalfa sprouts. Weird. They were a gift from Lisa Fuller, Judge Fuller's wife. He has them in a jar and they look like a science experiment! Lisa also gifted me some great Boll Weevil Soap Company items, which was so very kind of her.

yay! im so glad yall got the prizes :) Goodnight Moon was my favorite when i was little, so i couldnt help myself!!
ReplyDeletei hope i get to see yall soon!!
